FAQS

Are you new to therapy? Not sure how therapy works or what to expect? On this page I will answer some commonly asked questions about therapy and my practice.

  • Pathway to Center is located in Norwood, NJ, but telehealth sessions are also offered across all of New Jersey, ensuring that you can access high quality therapy from the comfort of your home or wherever is convenient for you.

  • Yes! Many clients prefer to work together from the comfort of their home. Virtual therapy sessions are offered on a HIPAA-compliant video system, and you will receive a link for the session after scheduling your first appointment. If you opt for virtual therapy, please ensure that you have a private space with a reliable internet connection.

  • Yes! Many clients prefer to meet in person at my office. The space is quiet, private, and thoughtfully designed to feel comfortable and relaxing—free from the distractions and interruptions that can sometimes come up at home. It’s a place where you can focus fully on yourself and the work we’re doing together.

Please note that the office is located on the second floor and is not handicapped accessible. If you are unable to access the office, virtual sessions are available and can be a great option.

  • Initial intake sessions are $300

Individual sessions are $275 for 50 minutes

Late cancelation/No Show Fee- $150, charged to the card on file.

To collect fees, I use an encrypted system called IvyPay that was created for therapists, by therapists. You input your credit card information before our first session, and I have no access to your credit card other than to charge for the sessions.

  • I am currently an in-network provider with Horizon, but I am out of network with all other insurances, Medicare and Medicaid. All copays, co-insurances and/or deductibles are due at the time of the session, and will be charged to the credit card on file after each session. Many insurance companies reimburse for out of network providers up to 80%. Please contact your insurance provider and ask about your out of network provider reimbursement policy/benefits. I can provide superbills for you to submit to your insurance company, or I can have my billing company submit the claims at no extra charge to you.

  • There are many reasons why someone may choose to not use their insurance for therapy:

    • You may not want to have a diagnosis. Insurance companies require a diagnosis to pay for your sessions. This diagnosis becomes a permanent part of your medical record. Insurance companies also have rules about which diagnoses deserve reimbursement and which do not. By not using insurance, we do not have to pathologize your symptoms in order for you to be treated.

    • You may want more flexibility. Insurance companies often limit the frequency, duration and length of therapy, which is not always in the best interest of the clients. By opting out of using insurance, it ensures more flexibility in the services I offer.

    • Privacy and confidentiality. Self-pay ensures that therapy sessions remain private and confidential without involving insurance companies. If we submit a claim to your insurance company, that insurance company has the right to read and obtain copies of anything in your chart.

    • Quicker access to care. Without the need to coordinate with insurance, self-pay clients often have quicker access to therapy sessions

    • More specialized care. Clients have the freedom to choose a therapist based on their individual preferences and needs, rather than being limited to insurance networks.

  • You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure that your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit http://www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-877-696-6775.

  • During our first session together (the intake appointment), we will get to know each other; establishing a comfortable, trusting, therapeutic relationship is important. We will review your history, your primary concerns, and your goals for treatment. These goals will continue to be reviewed and changed as needed as we work together. I will discuss and explain informed consent to treatment, including confidentiality and will give you an overview of the types of treatments offered. All interventions are tailored to fit your specific needs and goals. I will also answer any questions that you have during this time.

  • To schedule an appointment with Dr. Fingeroth, please email cmfingeroth@gmail.com or call 201-467-8489.

  • When necessary to cancel an appointment, please do so at least 24 hours in advance. Please leave a cancelation message directly in the confidential voicemail of your therapist. A client or client’s parent/guardian is personally responsible for the professional fee when an appointment is missed and/or not properly canceled ($150), except in extenuating circumstances.

  • If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or like old patterns keep showing up in your life, therapy can likely be helpful for you. My clients often find themselves struggling with anxiety, how they see themselves, or how to cope with past experiences that are still affecting them now.

Therapy is for people who are ready to get curious, connect the dots between their past and present, and learn new ways to feel more empowered and grounded. If you’re motivated and open to both validation and gentle challenge, we can work together to create real change.
